Job Announcement for Part-Time Faculty Lecturers for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024

The Museum Studies Program seeks applicants for part-time Faculty Lecturers for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 terms. The program offers an M.A. in Museum Studies and a Minor in Museum Studies that emphasize the development of museum professionals engaged in the important role museums play in our increasingly global and diverse world. Coursework integrates practice and theoretical inquiry to foster museum professionals committed to the power of museums as places of inspiration, community learning, and ethical collections stewardship for all segments of society. The Museum Studies Program is an independent, interdisciplinary professional program. The Museum Studies Program is one of the oldest Museum Studies Programs in North America, and is one of the top producers of M.A. degrees in the country. It also offers the only interdisciplinary M.A. degree in Museum Studies at a public university in California, and is also one of the few Museum Studies Programs in the world that is integrated with a university museum, the Global Museum. We seek individuals who are museum professionals and who have a record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students. A record of teaching contributions in the field of Museum Studies is preferred, as is the ability to engage with the activities of the Global Museum, which is operated in concert with the Museum Studies Program, and the ability to incorporate inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in teaching.

Qualifications: M.A degree in Museum Studies, or a Ph.D. in museum-related discipline, such as Art History, Classics, Near Eastern Studies, History, Anthropology, Education, Museum Studies, or in the Natural Sciences. Applicants must have museum professional experience, the ability to teach students working to pursue careers from a variety of backgrounds in 21st century museum activities, and a record of working of communicating effectively with colleagues.

Salary

Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per month
Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,405 - $11,994 per month
Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,190 - $13,172 per month
Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $7,794 - $13,797 per month

Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
